1 day tour for China Chengdu Panda Base and
Sanxingdui Museum |

Duration: 1 Day Itinerary In the morning, our tour guide will pick up you in your hotel, drive about 30 minutes to Chengdu Panda Base-- Panda Breeding and Research Center, visit Giant Panda Museum, see the lovely tender pandas, take pictures with a panda in your arms by donating some money for panda base. After earthquake, 8 pandas were sent to here from Wolong. And in this hard time your help is so much important for giant pandas. When all activities in Chengdu Panda Base are over we will have a lunch then drive to Guanghan, and visit Sanxingdui Museum. Lastly, drive back to the hotel, then end of tour. P.S. Chengdu is safe during the period of aftershock. And the purpose that we make this panda tour is attraction of more people pay attention to the panda's condition after Chinese massive earthquake. Wenchuan Earthquake Information and News for Panda There are about 1,590 wild pandas living in China, and fortunately no dead body found till now. And about about 154 captive pandas in Chengdu, Bifengxia and Wolong are all safe.
And in Wolong, with total population of more than 6000, about 47 local people injured, and about 40 local people died. Five staffs of panda reserve were dead. Almost all captive panda Enclosures has been destroyed. And 6 of captive pandas were missing when earth quake occurred. But 3 of them were saved by staffs of reserve in time, and till 26th May a panda named Xixi was found on the road. 2 captive pandas are still missing now.
At the time of earthquake, about 34 foreigners (foreign tourists) in Wolong, all of them safe and brought to Chengdu on both 15 May and 16 May. On 19 May 8 pandas were sent to Chengdu Panda Base. Till 23 May 2008, almost all blocked roads were rebuilt for basic transportation, and 6 pandas were sent to Bifengxia Panda Nature Reserve. About 8 Olympic Pandas has been to Beijing on 24 May by plane from Wolong, and will be seen sooner in Beijing Garden.
Sichuan Earthquake area needs a lot of support for earthquake relief, victims living, housing rebuilding such as tents, foods, water, funds. And Wolong area also needs a lot of supplies for panda's food, captive panda bears enclosure rebuilding etc.

Earthquake relief efforts and giant panda conservation The earthquake of 12 May took place in the Minshang mountains, which is wild panda habitat. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is working to address the immediate and long-term needs of animals and people living in the affected nature reserves. Thankfully, the animals and staff of the Chengdu Panda Base are safe. But the secondary effects are significant, and will challenge the operation of the Panda Base for some time in the future. We would be immensely grateful for whatever assistance the supporters of giant panda conservation efforts are able to offer.

Chengdu Research Base of
Giant Panda Breeding is situated on the Axe Hill 10 kilometers from the north
suburb of Chengdu City. It covers an area of 600 acres. The environment here is
exquisitely designed; the air is refreshing with the bamboo growing luxuriantly
and flocks of wild birds flying around. There are 39 giant pandas and tens of
specious animals such as red pandas and black-necked cranes. The Giant Panda
Museum, Butterfly Exhibit Hall and Vertebrae Animal Exhibit are located in the
Base. Besides, there are also restaurants, entertainment places and conference
facilities with special characteristics in the Base. Chengdu Research Base of
Giant Panda Breeding is the most famous conservation and protection center for
giant pandas and "State Science Popularization Base". What's more, it is the
most ideal ecological tourism place for visitors all around world to get to know
the appearance of giant pandas and to get around the wild nature. It was awarded
"Global 500" twice by the U N in the year of 1989 and 1994. China Sanxingdui Museum The Sanxingdui culture occurred between
2800 B.C. to 800 B.C., from Neolithic age: Dragon Hill culture to the end of
Shang and early Zhou period. |
