Key tourism operations have been restored in Sichuan
Province. Although many scenic attractions in the
southwestern province were destroyed in the May 12th
quake, most places have retained their unique
attractions.
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is
one of the most popular tourist spots in Chengdu
City. This week, the first foreign student group to
arrive in the city after the earthquake made
the Base their number one destination.
Alice Muir, Teacher, said, "The tour group is formed
with 12 high-school students from the US and Canada.
All the kids say, the earlier earth quake in Sichuan
has not affected their summer camp plan to travel
here, and all of them would die to see the pandas in
real life."
The tour group will continue their trip to Mt. E'Mei
over the next few days. Despite damage from the
quake two months ago, the scenic views here are as
stunning as they ever were.
Experts believe that the number of foreign tourists
will pick up in the next few months, with the peak
travel season already well underway.
