Because of the massive earth quake of Wenchuan in Sichuan province, many giant pandas were sent to Bifengxia Panda Base. So we make a new Giant Panda Tour only in Chengdu and Bifengxia on June of 2008. What our purpose is to do something for panda bear which is under a dangerous condition. And Bifengxia Panda Base needs many Panda Volunteers to help panda! Hope that more and more people can pay attention to Giant Panda after earth quake.

Because of Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan we stopped the following panda tour route:

11 Days tour for tracking Giant Panda in Chengdu Panda Base, Wolong, Fengtongzhai, Wanglang

Route: Chengdu- Wolong - Dujiangyan - Chengdu - Wanglang - Fengtongzhai - Yaoji Tibetan town - Dengchigou - Chengdu

Attractions: Wolong, Yinchanggou, Giant Panda Enclosure and Ecology Museum (Giant Panda Museum), Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Wanglang Reserve, Pingwu town, Baima Tibetan family, Giant Panda Information Center, Chengdu Giant Panda Base.

  

Itinerary
 

Day 01: arrive in Chengdu

Arrive in Chengdu where is the jumping-off point for the tour. You can ordain the first day by yourself. Also you can take a relaxation in the hotel and enjoy Chengdu's night piece. (D)

 

Day 02: Chengdu - Wolong

We will drive to Wolong, which is 134 km away from Chengdu. In the afternoon trek to Yinchanggou Valley, it's a good exercises not only for you body but for your spirit. And we will spend night in Wolong. (B/L/D)

 

Day 03: Wolong

In Wolong we will visit Giant Panda Enclosure and Ecology Museum (Giant Panda Museum). You can fully realize the Enclosure is so important for panda this endangered species. In there most of the giant pandas stay individually in the captive cages. Each enclosure consists of an indoor room and an outdoor courtyard. And Ecology Museum (Giant Panda Museum) will give your a further knowledge about pandas. Overnight in Wolong. (B/L/D)

 

Day 04: Wolong - Chengdu

We will drive back to Chengdu. On the road visit the famous Irrigation system Dujiangyan, witness the old day people's wisdom. And overnight in Chnegdu. (B/L/D)

 

Day 05: Chengdu - Wanglang

On the fifth day, we will leave Chengdu for Wanglang Reserve. By the way visit Bima Tibetan family in Pingwu town. Baima minority known outside Sichuan with many distinctive traditions and dress is a fascinating culture group. And their people is passionate and hospitable, maybe you will have a chance to get along with them. Lastly, We arrive at Wanglang and depend our night on Wanglang hostel. (B/L/D) 

 

Day 06:  Giant Panda Information Center

We will visit Giant Panda Information Center to get a further knowledge with pandas. After that having a trekking around. At night still stay at Wanglang hostel. (B/L/D)

 

Day 07: Wanglang - Chengdu

We will drive to Chengdu. Then have a visit to Chengdu Panda Base - Panda Breeding and Research Center. The panda base has not only dedicated itself to giant panda conservation, but has also made great efforts to combine natural scenery and man-made landscapes to create wonderful and humane living areas for giant pandas, red pandas, and other Chinese endangered animals. Overnight in Chengdu. (B/L/D)

 

Day 08: Chengdu - Fengtongzhai

Drive to fengtongzhai in Ya'an, and visit Giant Panda Enclosure and have a trekking around. Then spend night in Fengtongzhai hostel. (B/L/D)

 

Day 09: fengtongzhai - Yaoji Tibetan Town - Dengchigou Vally

Drive to Yaoji (or Qiaoqi) Tibetan Town, visit Yaoji Park, visit local family, and trek to Dengchigou Valley -- where the 1st giant panda found, overnight in hostel. (B/L/D)

 

Day 10: Dengchigou - Chengdu

Drive back to Chengdu. Then you can have a good rest and cumulate the energy for the next journey. (B/L/D)

 

Day 11: Chengdu

This day we will visit Wangjiang Park, where plants many different kinds bamboos, which are panda's favorite food. However, the bamboos in there is planted for view. Then we will go to Wenshu Temple, the famous Buddha place. Follow that go to shopping. After lunch go to airport. Service ends. (B/L)

1. All volunteers must obey the regulation of this Researching Center and China's Law, and working directed by leaders and scientist of this Researching Center.
2. Prices are valid until May, 2007, but may vary according to your travel time and tour availability (e.g.: Chinese holiday periods: April 30th - May 7th, Sep 30th to Oct 7th, and Chinese New Year period which usually falls in January. In 2007 Chinese New Year will be from Feb 18th to Feb 24th. this time the quotation for must be more 30%).
3. The package can be arranged without hotel reservations. If you make your own hotel booking, please uncheck the “Including the Hotels” item on the Reservation Form. The travel agent will then quote you price without hotels.

About Wolong Reserve
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is situated on the Axe Hill 10 kilometers from the north suburb of Chengdu City. It covers an area of 600 acres. The environment here is exquisitely designed; the air is refreshing with the bamboo growing luxuriantly and flocks of wild birds flying around. There are 39 giant pandas and tens of specious animals such as red pandas and black-necked cranes. The Giant Panda Museum, Butterfly Exhibit Hall and Vertebrae Animal Exhibit are located in the Base.
About Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

About Wanglang Reserve
Wanglang Nature Reserve, established in 1963 by the Sichuan Forestry Bureau, is located in the Minshan Mountains in some of China's most important panda habitat. Wanglang, whose purpose is to protect the giant panda and its habitat, and the 10 other nearby reserves in remote areas of northern Sichuan are critical to the continued survival of the giant panda.
About Fengtongzhai Reserve
Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve, established in 1975. In mountains & valley area of 39000 hectares reserved, located at Baoxing county, between east longitude of 102o48' - 102o47' and north latitude of 30o19' - 30o20', total animals about 380 species, 395 kinds of plants in this area. There are 7 conservative portions in this reserve. about 250Km from Chengdu. Now there are 4 captive giant pandas. In it's history, the Preserve has ever treated and cured 23 giant pandas, and 20 of them alive. For these pandas, 12 of them sent to other places (country) as gift by China Government, 8 of them placed back to wild condition (their real family).
